BSI Management Systems Australia & New Zealand, a wholly owned subsidiary of BSI Group, has been trading under the BSI banner since its acquisition of the Australian based Benchmark Certification organization in August 2006. The global nature of the BSI Group business brings with it a history of operating in more than 86 countries, with over 60,000 certified locations worldwide. BSI Group has led the certification field since its inception in 1901, and is the largest certifier in the UK and North America.
BSI Australia/New Zealand has headquarters in Sydney, with operations across Australia and New Zealand. Our service offerings have been extended to include the product testing market, with added capabilities in the areas of plumbing products (under the ‘Watermark’) and building products (under the ‘Codemark’).
The BSI local presence enables us to give Australian businesses seeking process improvements a real international choice. We can also provide a gateway to Europe, giving manufacturers in Australia ready access to CE marking for the European market. Additionally, BSI can now offer an even more seamless global certification process to our many global and major international clients who are looking for state-of-the-art services.
BSI is a leader in the development of standards based business solutions, and as such is the originator of the world’s most popular management systems standards and specifications. These include the ISO 9000 series of quality management standards, ISO 14001 for environmental management, ISO/IEC 27001 for information security management, OHSAS 18001 for occupational health and safety, ISO 10002 for complaints management and ISO/IEC 20000 for IT service management. These management specifications have achieved global acceptance as tools to enhance the effectiveness of organizations. To date nearly 20,000 Australian companies have been certified as meeting these and other Australian specific standards, amongst others AS/NZS 4801 for Occupational Health and Safety, ISO 9001 Health Accreditation Service, Registered Automotive Workshop Scheme and DES/DSQ for Disability Services.
In addition to being at the leading edge of developing standards in emerging technologies such as nanotechnology, biometrics and regenerative medicine – all of which will have a global impact in the future, BSI has been forefront in the development and implementation of BS 25999 for Business Continuity, a key standard which paves the way for Business Assurance. BS 25999 was successfully launched in London, New York and Tokyo in October 2007 and in Sydney in May 2008.
