Course overview

Our Lead Auditor training course is delivered with just 4 days training. Familiarise yourself with the requirements of the standard before developing practical auditing skills under the guidance of our expert trainers. Ensure your quality management system (QMS) is ISO compliant and build a culture of achieving and maintaining optimum business performance.

Work with us to become a certified lead auditor across the ISO 9000 series of standards and in line with ISO 19011, Guidelines for Auditing Management Systems. Our experienced trainers will guide you through classroom tutorials, role-play exercises, group workshops and open forum discussions to give you an understanding of ISO 9001 and the entire audit process.

RABQSA logoThis course comprises the following three RABQSA TPECS Competency Units whose outcomes are certified by RABQSA:

  • QM – Quality Management Systems
  • AU – Management Systems Auditing
  • TL – Leading Management Systems Audit Teams

Attendees successfully completing this course receive a Certificate of Attainment for each of the RABQSA Competency Units listed above.

Course objectives and structure

Learning objectives

  • Understand ISO 9001:2008 requirements within the context of an audit
  • Understand the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 within the context of your company
  • Understand the eight Quality Management Principles
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of the auditor
  • Prepare and present effective reports
  • Understand audit team leader responsibilities 
  • Be confident in managing internal or third party auditors
  • Advance your professional development by gaining a Certificate of Attainment from a globally recognised training body


There are written tests on each of the RABQSA TPECS competency units on Days 2, 3 and 4. Detailed exam instructions will be provided. Certificates of Attainment in each competency unit will be provided for students who are deemed “Competent” for each competency unit.  Certificates of Attendance are provided to those who do not pass the competency test(s), and students will be given the opportunity to retake the test(s).

The first 2 days of this course are identical to the BSI ISO 9001:2008 Requirements training course. Delegates who have already succesfully completed ISO 9001:2008 Requirements can attend the final 2 days of this course to obtain competency as an Internal Auditor and Lead Auditor.
